Village Institute

Since 1920, Embsay and Eastby’s village hall – known as the Village Institute – has been the centre of village life. It provides a permanent home for Embsay-with-Eastby Pre-School Playgroup and Embsay-with-Eastby Community Library and is used by many local clubs and societies for meetings.

FACILITIES

  • Reception Foyer (approx. 3.4m x 7.1m) giving access to the hall, kitchen, toilets and Community Library;
  • Main Hall with stage (approx. 12.6m x 9.7m) – capacity 120 seated, 200 standing;
  • Supper Room (approx. 5.9m x 5.2m) ideal for small group meetings, lunches and suppers – capacity 30 seated;
  • Well equipped, modern kitchen (approx. 5m x 3.5m);
  • Wheelchair accessible;
  • Automatic door for disabled access;
  • Hearing loop;
  • Separate ladies and gents toilets, disabled toilet and baby changing facilities;
  • Free WiFi;
  • Chairs (newly upholstered in 2018) and tables to suit any requirement;
  • Entertainment licence;
  • Alcohol licences can be obtained by hirer for own events;
  • Free public car park opposite the Village Institute.

HIRE CHARGES

APPLICABLE FROM 1ST JANUARY 2024

Hourly charges for all users

Main Hall

From Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm: £13.50 per hour.

Mon-Thurs, 6pm to 10pm: £17.67 per hour.

Fri 6pm to Sunday 10pm: £20 per hour

Supper Room

From Monday to Friday, between 9am to 6pm: £6.75 per hour.

Mon to Thurs 6pm to 10pm: £9.00 per hour.

Fri 6pm to Sunday 10pm: £12 per hour

Or £15 per session if booked with the main hall

Charges for single bookings

Single bookings of the VI facilities are subject to a surcharge of £20.00.

Bookings made by ‘frequent users’ are not subject to this surcharge.
